One lovely fall day, quite some time ago, I spent an afternoon at an immaculate stable photographing several horses. Little did I know that day would be the catalyst for many equestrian photo sessions to come. One of the horses that I had the pleasure to photograph was a handsome gelding named Skippers Eatmydust. Dusty, as he is affectionately known, is sorrel in colour but his breed is Solid Coloured Paint-bred. This 10 year old, 15.2 hh gelding competes in Hunter, Jumper and Western Pleasure classes with the North River Riders. He also enjoys trail riding with his owners, Carol and daughter Sarah Lloyd of Orillia, Ontario. Dusty likes people and loves treats, trail riding and competing at horse shows, especially in Sit-A-Buck class! He dislikes scary plastic bags and hula skirts!?? (You'll have to ask Carol about that one.) You would never know that Dusty is partially blind in one eye, which apparently makes him 'interesting' to work. After being trained Western for almost two years, Dusty started his career as an English horse. At his first open English show, Dusty took a first place ribbon in a Hunter Hack class! His owners were thrilled! Dusty resides at Maplehaven Equestrian Centre in Atherly, Ontario. Congratulations Dusty on being our February 20th, 2006 Horse of the Week Horse of the Week changes sometime Sunday Evening |
