Captiva de Raphael Our Horse of the Week this week is Captiva de Raphael, a beautiful 12 year old black Paso Fino mare who is a broodmare at Forest Gait Farm in Halton Hills, Ontario. Her pedigree includes such notables as Emperador La Estrella, Faldero que tal and Baron que tal (old foundation bloodlines). Captiva is a highly intelligent, self-confident horse with a lovely headset and an exceptionally smooth natural gait. She is fun to ride out on the trails and excels in the show ring. Captiva has boundless energy - she can go for hours on a trail ride and still want more! In 2005 she had a beautiful bay filly, Catalina de Forest Gait (seen above). This year, she is in foal to Forest Gait's stunning grey stallion, Postin de Petrolero,and they are anxiously awaiting the birth, which could be any day now! (May 10th, 2007 is the vet's prediction.)
