Rascal A few weeks ago I went out to the Polera farm on a beautiful summer evening to photograph Emma's foal, Juneau. I was pleased to see several other beautiful horses at the farm and decided to photograph them as well. Rascal, a handsome bay Quarter Horse gelding, is the senior member of the Polera herd. Emma Polera says: "Rascal is a very special guy at our farm. He was the first horse that started up our little herd, and he has remained the 'head hauncho' throughout his 6 years here! We got him he was 17 years old, and this would only be his second home, so it was, for sure, a big change for him. He was used to being in a huge herd, and then came to our tiny farm with just a cow or two at the time. He has sure been through a lot. When it comes to his personality, Rascal is definitely the opposite of bombproof!! He is scared of the most random things... such as a blue bucket... but not the pink one! Now most people wouldn't admit that, but this is his forever home so I'm not afraid to say it hehe :) He has sure taught us a lot, and he never fails to surprise us. Rascal is now 22 years young and is mainly a pasture buddy, although we still enjoy some short rides around the field in simply a halter." Congratulations to Rascal for being our July 20th, 2009 'Horse of the Week'. |
