Jet Princess

Jet Princess is a 15.2 hh, 7 year old Thoroughbred mare owned by Janis Haugh. This beautiful bay mare resides at The Meadows Equestrian Centre in
Uxbridge, Ontario.

This is what Janis has to say about Jet:

We know she was a race horse until she was three years old. Her life is a bit of a mystery after this, but she was purchased as a rescue horse in the spring of 2006 by the owner of her present boarding facility. Jet was thin when she arrived and needed some conditioning and weight gain. She also had some defensive attitudes to work out.

I began riding Jet at the end of that summer and we clicked from the very start. I had been thinking seriously about owning a horse for a couple of years. I worked with this mare over the fall and winter seasons, and by springtime I had decided that Jet was the right one for me!

Jet Princess has a sweet nature and is very expressive. She is generally a calm, brave horse but at times can be quite spirited. She is interested in everything that is going on around her and likes to communicate her point of view. She has an interesting stubborn streak and is very creative in avoiding the things that she doesn't want to do. Lunging is one - she will simply stand there, so we run together to give her the idea of what is being asked. It is good exercise for me and she seems to enjoy it. Jet likes attention and is very affectionate; she loves to have her neck and chin scratched and she loves treats - stud muffins and mints are her favourite.

This mare is very talented - Jet has lovely movement in all her gaits. It has taken her a little while to feel safe and happy but she is now becoming a very soft and willing partner. We are currently working on the dressage discipline and with her intelligence and flexibility she should do very well in it.
