Sydney It was so nice to get back to Bracebridge this past fall, especially to the beautiful location of Twin Oaks Farm for another photo shoot. The beautiful rolling hills were surrounded by the flaming colours of the autumn trees, a lovely backdrop for photos. My favourite aspect of the landscape is the outcroppings of those wonderful Muskoka rock-faces. What a unique location! Though the photo shoot was marred by tragedy, a previous accident had seriously injured the farm's owner days before (and sadly, eventually led to his death), we respectfully went ahead with the photo shoot. Edith had sold her last horse, Dove, to find a better horse/person match in Sydney. This beautiful paint gelding, like Dove, proved to be a wonderful model, both in hand and at liberty tearing around the field for the camera. This is what Edith had to say about Sydney: "As a rider who's had her confidence crushed, it's been a struggle for years to find the right horse to help me progress. I never would've dreamed that my 'right horse' would come as a 4 year old pinto. I named this horse 'Virtual Image' because of the Albert Einstein profile on his left hip. His barn name is 'Sydney' because the marking inside the Albert Einstein profile looks like Australia. (see the image at the bottom of this page) Sydney is very aware of his rider and is willing to accept new challenges. Some might say he's a little on the lazy side - I say he likes to take his time and do things right! He's very calm and very intelligent, learning very quickly and loving every minute of it! Everyone that has come in contact with this horse has fallen in love with his wonderful disposition and charming looks. Often referred to as good Ol' Paint, people tend to forget that this horse is only 4 years old. Now being boarded at Maple Lane Farms, Sydney settled in very nicely to his new busy environment and is starting to make a reputation for himself as the horse that helps the staff lead pasture mates out. Keep an eye out for Virtual Image, as we are planning on entering a few local shows this coming season in Western Pleasure Classes!! Congratulations to Sydney for being our February 4th, 2008 Horse of the Week! “Strange is our situation here upon earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to a divine purpose. From the standpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing we do know: That we are here for the sake of others… for the countless unknown souls with whose fate we are connected by a bond of sympathy. Many times a day, I realize how much my outer and inner life is built upon the labors of people, both living and dead, and how earnestly I must exert myself in order to give in return as much as I have received.” Albert Einstein
