Maderas Dandy Jewel I took lessons over in Elmvale and my teacher was bringing in some new horses to train and sell. When I got there, he was in the arena on a horse that was rather short and stalky. My teacher said "go grab your helmet and get on this horse for me and walk him out." So I ran to the tack room and got my helmet and ran back to the gate, then I went in and got on the horse and started walking him out. I walked past my Grandpa and he told me to stop. So I did and he asked me if I liked that horse and with a big smile on my face and I said "yeah, he's great". So I continued to walk him out, then my Grandpa and Dad came back out and said "your horse is underneath you and take care of him" and I said "My horse? What do you mean?" and my Dad said "he's yours now!" Bonus! So now he is happly living on our farm in Oro-Medonte with my other two horses, Lacy and Neela. Danny enjoys cutting, reining, team penning, ranch sorting, and just playing around in the field with the other horses. We will be heading to west region to compete in the cutting shows there and see what Danny has got for competetion in him as far as being agressive.
We enjoy going to shows at the NRR and even though my horse doesn't do anything, he loves to come. Danny was on the Horse Haven Drill Team but then had to take a leave because of his foot, so now I use a horse my teacher let me use and he is working out great. If anyone has time, come out to west region next year and check out what cutting horses can do. Look for Danny at the local shows around the area. Last year we had a terrible thing happen to Danny. He was diagnosed with navicular disease and we didn't know what to do. Then we looked into getting him nerved to take the pain off and we will be getting that done in a couple of weeks.
