I can't resist posting some winter photos from my recent visit to Stonegate Farm for this week's feature. It was nice to see Lillian Tepera and all her beasties again. This time I brought my other sister with me, Joanne, who is not around horses as much as Janet and I, but still gets her fill of them by default. Soon after we arrived at the farm, we found ourselves in a blizzard, which isn't great for a camera, but makes for fantastic images! All my favourite horses were there to greet us, Moose the Belgian cross, Henk and Wilby the Friesians, Louie the Canadian horse. Diesel the little QH gelding and Ronan, a striking Clyde cross. There were a few new faces as well, some boarding. A striking and rare champagne coloured horse, as well as an appaloosa, Dooley, I photographed a few years ago who is coming out of retirement to assist in the therapeutic riding program. The thing I love about Stonegate, besides the many wonderful equine models always available to be photographed, are the other animal members of Lillian's menagerie - including 3 English Pointer dogs, a Great Dane the size of a small horse (185 lbs!), various cats, and a small herd of mohair goats (did I forget anyone?). I hope you enjoy some pictures from my wintry visit! Congratulations to the Stongegate Farm horses for being our January 5th, 2008 Horses of the Week. See our 2009 'Horses of Ontario' calendar. |
